IEEE Hong Kong Section Pre-University STEM Student Conference 2021
In the era of global uncertainty, people have to solve both complex local and international issues. Therefore, globally-minded young talents with STEM research and development skills are in huge demand today. There are needs of helping students to develop these skills and attitudes in an integrative and experiential manner. However, standardized K12 (secondary school) curriculum is difficult for students to self-initiate a STEM research project as these are often not available at local schools.
The Hong Kong Section (HK) with local chapters are excited to offer a Pre-University STEM Student conference to students. Students conduct scientific research related to Sustainable Development Goals, with the support by mentors in the Section. Through the research activity, individuals are empowered in problem solving, cognitive training and multicultural learning. Educational outcomes are specified for raising awareness of STEM and advocating their inclusion in STEM education.
