This workshop aims to introduce students to the safe and proper use of biosafety cabinets, essential equipment for handling biological agents in the laboratory. Through theoretical and practical sessions, participants will learn the operating principles, the different types of cabinets (Class I, II, and III), their specific applications, and the international regulations related to their use.

During the practical part, students will learn how to properly operate a Class II biosafety cabinet, including start-up and shutdown procedures, work area organization, aseptic work techniques, cross-contamination prevention measures, and cleaning and disinfection practices before and after use. Key aspects such as the protection of the operator, the product, and the environment will also be addressed.

This workshop seeks to strengthen students' technical and biosafety skills, promoting a culture of responsibility and good practices when working with potentially hazardous biological materials.
