Topic: From Loss Modeling to Optimal Powertrain

Speaker: Dr. Hao Ge, Sr. Staff System Architecture Engineer, Tesla

Bio: Dr. Hao Ge is a Sr. Staff System Architecture Engineer at Tesla. He joined Tesla in 2017 as Sr. Motor Design Engineer and has been working on EV motor and powertrain design since then. He received his BS and MS degree in Electrical Engineering from Harbin Institute of Technology (HIT) and PhD degree from McMaster University.

SUMMARY: As the heart of the electric propulsion system, motor(s) are apparently one very important component of the powertrain. Everything we know about motor must be combined organically with drive inverter, gearbox, and most importantly, with the battery in the loop.  At Tesla, we have done extensive work to bring all the design capability in house, from A to Z.
