Career Gateway 1.0 is a flagship career development initiative organized by the IEEE Student Branch University of Sri Jayewardenepura in collaboration with its IEEE chapters and affinity groups. This initiative is designed to bridge the gap between academia and industry by equipping undergraduates with career guidance, industry exposure, networking opportunities, and direct engagement with professionals.

As the first initiative of its kind by IEEE SB USJ, Career Gateway 1.0 follows a structured roadmap consisting of career development sessions, industry field visits, and a final career fair.

As part of the initiative, two online career development sessions have already been successfully conducted, focusing on key areas related to career readiness, professional growth, and industry expectations.

In addition, participants were given direct industry exposure through two field visits conducted under Career Gateway 1.0:

  • DIMO Sri Lanka
  • Sysco LABS Sri Lanka

These visits provided participants with valuable insights into corporate culture, workplace practices, industry operations, and emerging career opportunities.

The initiative will culminate with the Career Fair on 10th July 2026 at the University of Sri Jayewardenepura. The career fair will bring together companies, organizations, and students on a common platform for recruitment, networking, internships, and industry engagement.

Career Gateway 1.0 aims to create meaningful opportunities for students to connect with industry professionals while strengthening academia-industry collaboration.
