Eng Abdikarim of Dalkom Somalia

The IEEE Student Branch of Jamhuriya University of Science and Technology organized a technical seminar titled “Understanding Somalia’s Internet Connectivity: Submarine Cables, ISPs, and Networks.” The session was delivered by Eng. Abdikarim Abdullahi, Network Engineer at Dalkom Somalia.

The seminar provided participants with an overview of Somalia’s Internet connectivity infrastructure, focusing on the role of submarine fiber-optic cables, Internet Service Providers (ISPs), network infrastructure, and the delivery of Internet services to end users. The discussion helped participants understand how international Internet connectivity reaches Somalia through submarine cables and how this connectivity is distributed through national telecommunications networks.

The speaker also provided practical industry perspectives on networking and telecommunications, helping students connect theoretical concepts from their academic studies with real-world network infrastructure and operations in Somalia.
