"Additionally, I wanted to make you aware of the other programs we have had going on in 2024 at EYH. This past spring, we held an EYH Cafe (9-12th grade) event called "Start Your STEM Engines" which involved learning the mechanics and techniques of radio-controlled cars. We also held our first-ever NSF-sponsored summer course on the topic of Bioengineering and Instrument Development led by the University of California, Irvine which was not only a TON of fun, but a great experience as determined by our pre- and post-survey results.

Upcoming we will be holding our first ever "Industry Exploration Series" event for the EYH College program, which provides undergraduate and graduate women the opportunity to explore careers in our local, richly diverse STEM industry. The event on Sept. 20 is at Northrop Grumman's facilities, where participants will be able to network with Northrop Grumman staff and learn more about their engineering and math-related careers. We are excited for the potential of engaging students with industry professionals, offering them invaluable insights into potential career paths, and fostering meaningful connections that could shape their futures in STEM.

Lastly, I am hopeful we can again apply for the support of IEEE for our conference event in March 2025. Please let me know if we can submit an inquiry of support and I hope you have a fabulous weekend!" (from EYH coordinator Liz)

Hello Region 6 Leaders and Volunteers,

There will be an in-person Southwest Area meeting on October 19, 2024 in Phoenix, Ariz.

It will be a great chance to network with other IEEE leaders and learn about their activities, as well as meet the student chapter leaders.  Updates on Student Officer Training are included.

Section chairs, please email me a brief overview of activities that occurred in your section for the last 6 months.

If there is anything you would like to see on the agenda that is not included, please contact me and we will try to work it in.
